As Christians, we are God’s chosen people (1 Peter 2:9-10) whose citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20). Yet, we also recognise that we are citizens of the world in which we live, and God calls us to submit to its rulers and authorities (Romans 13:1-7 & 1 Peter 2:11-17).
At the Politics Network we are committed to wrestling with this tension; what does it mean to be both a citizen of heaven and a citizen of the world? How then are we to live? Because to be a Christian is to make the profoundly public claim that Christ is Lord, a claim with significant implications for all aspects of society including our political witness. Which is why we set up Civitas...
Civitas is our discipleship group that exists to explore these very matters. We meet monthly during term time with guest speakers from across the political world to dig deeply into God's word and apply it to our political circumstances.
Committed to excellent teaching, creating community amongst like-minded believers, and supporting you through your engagement, Civitas is the best way to get stuck into the Politics Network.
